How early should you arrive?
Passengers should aim to be checked in and ready to pass through security at least two hours before departure.
Check-in opening and closing times vary by airline, so confirm your airline's requirements before travelling. Allow additional time if you have outsize baggage, are travelling with a pet or require extra assistance. Passengers using airport parking may also need time to park, unload luggage and reach the terminal.
Where are the check-in desks?
The airport has two separate check-in halls.
Jet2.com flights normally use Check-in Hall B. Passengers flying with other operators normally use Check-in Hall A. Check the airport information screens when you arrive in case your airline's arrangements have changed.
Using bag drop
Passengers who have checked in online but have hold luggage must still use a bag-drop facility.
Jet2.com bag drop is located in Hall B. Self-service bag drop for other airlines is located in Hall A. Follow the on-screen instructions, weigh the bag and attach the printed baggage tag before placing it on the belt. Never send a bag onto the conveyor without a baggage tag.
Travelling with hand luggage only
Passengers with a valid boarding pass and no hold luggage can normally proceed directly to security.
You do not usually need to visit a check-in desk when travelling with hand luggage only, provided you already have a valid boarding pass. Check your airline's size and weight limits before travelling, as each airline sets its own cabin-baggage allowance.
Mobile and paper boarding passes
Security accepts both mobile and printed boarding passes.
If a boarding pass cannot be scanned at security, you may need to return to your airline's check-in desk to have it reprinted. Check your airline's rules before travelling because some airlines may charge passengers who have not completed online check-in correctly.
Hand-luggage rules
Hand luggage includes anything you intend to take through security and into the departure area.
Check your airline's permitted bag size and weight as well as the latest UK government hand-luggage restrictions. Pack in a way that allows any items requiring separate inspection to be reached easily. Security requirements can change, so confirm the current rules shortly before travelling.
Hold-luggage preparation
Hold baggage is checked in and carried in the aircraft hold rather than taken through passenger security.
Avoid placing keys, money, wallets, medication, valuables, fragile items or anything needed during the flight in hold luggage. Retract extendable handles, remove old airline labels, close and secure zips and fasten any loose straps or flaps before checking the bag in.
Oversized and unusual baggage
Large or unusually shaped items may need a separate check-in and screening process.
Examples can include golf bags, skis, bicycles and large musical instruments. Check with your airline before travelling to confirm whether the item is permitted and whether an additional fee applies. Allow extra time because outsize luggage may need to be taken to a separate screening point.
What Fast Track does
Fast Track gives passengers access to a separate security queue before the boarding-pass gates.
The service allows booked passengers to bypass the main security queue. However, it does not provide a different type of security screening. After passing through the Fast Track boarding-pass gates, passengers complete the same security checks and must follow the same rules as everyone else.
How to book Fast Track
Fast Track is available for departing passengers and can be booked through the airport's official website.
The booking must be completed at least one hour before the flight departs. Passengers select the date and approximate time they expect to reach security, together with the number of passes required. A confirmation email containing the booking details is sent after payment.
Fast Track tickets for children
The ticket requirement depends on the age of the child travelling.
Infants under two years old can use Fast Track free of charge and do not need to be included in the booking. Every passenger aged two or older requires their own Fast Track ticket.
How to use Fast Track at the airport
The Fast Track lane is located on the right-hand side when entering the security area.
Passengers should join the Fast Track lane and present both their boarding pass and Fast Track confirmation email. The airport states that no additional voucher or separate QR code is required beyond the booking confirmation and boarding pass.
Is Fast Track worth paying for?
Fast Track may reduce the uncertainty associated with joining the main security queue, but it does not guarantee a particular waiting time.
It may be useful for passengers travelling at busy times, families who want a more predictable airport experience or people who are particularly concerned about security queues. It may offer less value when the airport is quiet. Check the current price for your date and consider the cost for every traveller aged two or above before booking.
Twilight check-in
Some Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays passengers may be able to drop off hold luggage the day before departure.
Jet2 currently provides a Twilight check-in service for eligible flights. Other airlines at Leeds Bradford Airport do not currently offer day-before check-in, so their passengers must drop off hold luggage during the normal check-in period on the day of departure. Check Jet2's current conditions before relying on the service.
